Harry Redknapp England Manager

England Football Manager

So Harry is the bookies choice to replace Capello… Does he really want the job?

Flying high with Spurs with more than a chance of competing well in the Champions League next season, Harry may well get over all the flattery and see the England job as a poison challis deciding to stick rather than twist and bust!

Spurs fans will be hoping he politely declines and if he does then the FA will need to think about why! There is always talk about long term strategy, building for the future, putting a structure in place… All well and good but to be fair that hasn’t been delivered since, well since, come on when… Was there a structure in place in ’66?

If the FA want to put to someone in place that will pick up and run with a long term strategy then maybe Harry isn’t the right choice. He won’t be one to fall in line and will want to do it his way. For one, I’m sure he wouldn’t put up with being told who is captain! That would be a great headline “Harry gets the job and selects Terry as captain”.

When we work through the current crop of candidates, that is perspective English managers, Harry does stand out, so I guess he will get the job, probably taking charge at the end of the season.
